Code of Conduct

Introduction

This document, henceforth referred to as the Community FC Code of Conduct Policy (CFC CoC) lays forth the expectations for conduct from athletes, parents and coaches involved in, spectators for, or representative of the Community FC. We are a recreation level soccer league, with a primary goal to share, grow, develop, and nurture a passion for sports within the youth of our participating communities. We hold all involved to Acceptance of these policies are mandatory for parents, coaches, and volunteers to participate in any Community FC held event, sporting or otherwise. Non-parental spectators, upon entry to any Community FC event, will carry an implied acceptance to these policies during their attendance.  Please review this document thoroughly before providing acknowledgment and acceptance, as any violation may result in disciplinary action including temporary, seasonal, or permanent suspension from attendance and/or exclusion from your athlete’s ability to participate.

Parent/Family Code of Conduct

Your actions and behavior before, during, and after practice and games have the most influential impact towards your athlete’s relationship with their sporting activities. Your attitude (positive/negative) will inevitably help shape the way your athlete views their sport, officials, referees, coaches, teammates, opposing players, supporters, and detractors.

Parent Code of Conduct:

  • I will model good sportsmanship for all youth participants and spectators.
  • I will put the emotional and physical well-being of the youth participants ahead of a personal desire to win.
  • I will always respect players, coaches, officials, and spectators.
  • I will not belittle or ridicule anyone involved in a youth sporting event publicly, in-person or online.
  • I will refrain from using profanity, verbal threats, and violent behavior.
  • I will refrain from criticizing officials and their decisions, relying on the coaching staff solely to facilitate all communications with any officiating crew or oppositional coaching staff.
  • I will do my part to keep the sport fun and positive for every participant.
  • I will follow the 24-Hour Respect Rule: waiting a full 24 hours prior to contacting any parent liaison, coach, or commissioner to remark, complain, or provide negative dialogue about a practice or sporting event. Once the time frame has elapsed, I will communicate directly and respectfully so that both myself and the Community FC representative can work together towards a meaningful conclusion.

Failure to comply with the above conduct policy may result in the issuance of a verbal warning for minor offenses, single or multi-event suspensions, or a season long ban.

Note: The policies above in red are considered Zero Tolerance Policies and depending upon the infraction and circumstances, could result in immediate expulsion and considerations for future suspension.

Beyond the above conditions, we humbly ask as an organization to support not only your athlete, but the coaches that volunteer their time, the other athletes that are also giving their best and the entire sporting program. Please encourage your athlete to talk to their coach about any misunderstandings, areas they might need additional assistance on, confusion about the overall strategy or any additional questions they may have.

Player Code of Conduct

On the pitch or any other field-of-play, you not only represent yourself, but your family, your team, your school, and Community FC. It is imperative that regardless of circumstance, you maintain a good attitude and willingness to work hard towards your personal and team-oriented goals.

  • I will arrive at practice on time and be ready to dedicate my attention to my coaches.
  • I will always respect other players, coaches, officials, and spectators.
  • I will commit to do my best in the classroom from behavior to studies, acknowledging the importance of education, as well as sports.

Failure to comply with the above conduct policy may result in the issuance of a verbal warning for minor offenses, single or multi-event suspensions or a season long ban.

Note: The policies above in red are considered Zero Tolerance Policies and depending upon the infraction and circumstances, could result in immediate expulsion and considerations for future suspension.

If you have any questions, have areas of the coaching that you don’t understand, or have a request for additional assistance; your coach’s door is always open.

Coach/Volunteer Code of Conduct

Outside of parental guidance, you as a coach may have the most influential impact on our local youth. You not only carry the responsibility as a role model and reference for behavior towards referees, umpires, opposing coaches and players, but also the burden to maintain a higher standard than every other participant within our sporting portfolio. Although some parents, players and spectators will choose their own limits of civility, most will take the guidance from you.

Coach Code of Conduct:

  • I will model good sportsmanship at all times.
  • I will be honest, fair, and respectful to others always.
  • I will encourage, support, teach and lead my players to achieve their highest potential
  • I will commit to do my very best in planning, practice, and games.
  • I will always respect ALL players, coaches, officials, and spectators.
  • I will not belittle or ridicule anyone involved in a youth sporting event publicly, in-person or online.
  • I will refrain from using profanity, verbal threats, and violent behavior.
  • I will work to facilitate the best communication possible with my players, parents, and other coaches.
  • I will do my part to keep the sport fun and positive for every participant.
  • I will press upon my players that we as a team and organization will win with humility and lose with character.
  • Failure to comply with the above conduct policy may result in the issuance of a verbal warning for minor offenses, removal of coaching responsibilities, single or multi-event suspensions or a season long ban.

Note: The policies above in red are considered Zero Tolerance Policies and depending upon the infraction and circumstances, could result in immediate expulsion and considerations for future suspension.

Note: If you are in your coaching shirt, the appearance is that you are representing Community FC and, even if you are not acting as a volunteer, you will be held to this standard.

Disciplinary Actions

Violations of the code of conduct may result in, but are not limited to:

  • Warning
  • Suspension from the game / event / season / league

Suspensions are made and enforced by league commissioners and the board.

If a parent has any issues with a coach, volunteer, or another member, please make the time to see that individual personally before resorting to emails or voicemails to express your dissatisfaction. All issues are always resolved better face to face. If you cannot get your issue resolved, please take it up with a coach or commissioner for resolution.

The below guidance is a road map for our board, commissioners, parents, and players to clearly and completely understand the cause and effect of their actions, not only to themselves, but to their participating athletes as well.

The suspension of a Parent/Legal Guardian/Family Member from any Community FC event/activity/sport competition, could result in the parallel suspension of that person’s participating athlete(s).

  • If an adult is removed from a game, the player(s) related to that parent or coach must immediately leave the field of play and property for the remainder of the day even if other family members are present.
  • If a coach is removed from a game, the assistant coach or team manager will assume the head coach role.  If there is no assistant coach or team manager, any other CFC representative may step in.

Reported offenses will result in the following process (depending on the allegations, individuals may be temporarily suspended during the investigation process):

  • Board Review – Fact Finding
  • Request meeting with the person(s) alleged to be involved in the altercation.
  • Board Vote on potential additional suspension based on:
  • Information provided by all parties involved, as well as witnesses.
  • Severity of offense and age of parties involved.
  • Identification as a single event or pattern of behavior.

Board will provide written notification, that includes a summary of the offense, judgment (if any) on additional suspension, justification for judgment, and the person and contact information for any additional follow-up.

During all suspension periods, individuals are not allowed to have contact with the team or be on site at any team practices, activities, events, or games.  (Suspended coaches cannot attend as parents during their suspension.)
